APIN Public Health Initiatives
Recognized as the FIRST PEPFAR Implementing Partner
to onboard 100% of supported facilities on the
National Data Repository (NDR)
As part of the Federal Government of Nigeria’s effort to make information available for evidence based decision making in HIV services in Nigeria, it set up a national data repository (NDR) project in 2013 with support from center for disease control (CDC) Atlanta. The NDR is expected to store clinical data from all electronic medical records (EMR) systems in the country for all HIV positive patients who have ever received care in Nigeria.
APIN Public Health Initiatives currently supports care and treatment for over 60,000 HIV positive adults in children in 36 hospitals across the country and maintains EMR systems at all these hospitals. As a stakeholder in the Nigerian HIV response, the APIN team has worked assiduously to comply with the government’s requirement to upload all required data.
Dr.Jahun Ibrahim of the US Centre for Disease Control Strategic Information team, in his congratulatory message to APIN Public Health Initiatives, recognized the organization’s effort for being the first implementing partner to onboard 100% of facilities with an EMR to the National Data Repository. According to him, “this is no small effort” as he applauded APIN for reaching this milestone across two different EMR systems”.
