APIN marked a significant milestone with a commemorative symposium celebrating 25 years of advancing public health, strengthening health systems, and transforming lives across Nigeria. The event brought together government representatives, development partners, healthcare professionals, researchers, staff, and stakeholders to reflect on the organization’s remarkable journey and its vision for the future.
The symposium served as a platform for meaningful conversations on the evolution of public health in Nigeria and the role of partnerships in driving sustainable impact. Speakers highlighted APIN’s contributions over the past two and a half decades, from expanding access to quality healthcare services and strengthening healthcare infrastructure to implementing innovative programmes that have improved the lives of millions.


The keynote address delivered by Professor Isaac Adewole, Nigeria’s former Minister of Health and current Ambassador designate to Canada where he highlighted APIN’s journey from the early days to a national force to be reckoned with in the public health space



Goodwill messages were delivered by Professor Phyllis Kanki, APIN’s founder and Professor at Harvard School of Public Health, Professor Oladapo Shittu, APIN’s Board Chairman, Dr. Oluwole Odutolu, APIN’s pioneer Program Manager and APIN former board chairman, U.S CDC Nigeria Deputy Director for Partner Management, Gbolohan Cole, Special Adviser to the President on Health, Dr. Salma Anas, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Public Health, Uju Rochas Anwukah, Commissioner for Health Ogun State, Dr. Tomi Coker, NASCP Coordinator Dr. Adebobola Bashorun, DG NACA, Dr. Temitope Ilori, CEO of CIHP, Dr. Bola Oyeledun and many more stakeholders










As participants reflected on the organization’s legacy, the symposium reinforced APIN’s commitment to collaboration, innovation, and evidence-based interventions that continue to shape healthcare delivery in Nigeria.
The event was not only a celebration of what has been accomplished but also a renewed call to action to build stronger health systems, expand access to quality care, and create healthier communities for generations to come.
Twenty-five years after its establishment, APIN’s story remains one of impact, resilience, and purpose that continues with an unwavering commitment to improving lives and advancing public health.
