APIN and Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) in Collaboration Talks to Deliver PrEP and GBV services in Benue State!

As an organization, we believe in forging strong partnerships and working with other organizations and stakeholders in order to achieve our goal of improving health and changing lives.

Recently, our Benue State office led by the Head of Office, Dr Kelechi Ngwoke, hosted delegates from Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) also known as Doctors without Borders based in Makurdi.

Leader of the delegation from MSF, Hannah Rice praised APIN for the amazing work to deliver quality HIV services, among other public health interventions across Benue State. MSF is currently working with the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) across camps in Benue state where they identified a population of young women engaging in transactional sex (sex for money), placing them at substantial risk of HIV infection.

The discussion surveyed areas of possible collaboration for the delivery of Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) and Gender-Based Violence (GBV) for the above population. In addition, Ms. Rice requested to visit our Adolescent & Young Persons Hub in Makurdi for cross-learning and gleaning insights to help them revitalize an existing youth-friendly hub that they operate in Benue State.

The APIN delegation included Lucia Torjir and Terna Iombor from the Prevention & Community Services Directorate, Bima Isah from the Pharmacy and Supply Chain Management directorate, and Dr Kenneth Okpala from the Health Systems Strengthening directorate.

As an organization, we believe in forging strong partnerships and working with other organizations and stakeholders in order to achieve our goal of improving health and changing lives.

We are excited about this opportunity to work with and learn from MSF, and look forward to doing more and better for our clients in Benue State.
