APIN Pays Courtesy Visit To The New Chief Medical Director of Benue State University Teaching Hospital (BSUTH)

The management of APIN Public Health Initiatives, as led by Dr. Kelechi Ngwoke, APIN Head of Office in Benue State, paid a courtesy visit to the new Chief Medical Director (CMD) of Benue State University Teaching Hospital (BSUTH), Dr. Stephen Terungwa Hwande.

On behalf of the APIN CEO, Dr. Prosper Okonkwo, Dr. Kelechi Ngwoke congratulated the new CMD on his recent appointment. He briefed the management of BSUTH about APIN’s support the HIV program in the facility since 2017. With funding from the U.S Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and APIN’s support, a total of 945 adults and children living with HIV are currently enrolled on lifelong Antiretroviral Treatment in BSUTH.  Dr Ngwoke also discussed existing and potential areas of partnership including the supply and maintenance of laboratory equipment, especially the ELISA blood bank which caters to the needs of several health facilities in Benue State.

He further reiterated APIN Public Health Initiatives’s commitment to working collaboratively with BSUTH and  providing technical support where necessary.

The CMD praised APIN’s over the years in working with BSUTH and the Benue State government to deliver quality health services to people of the state, particularly in the area of HIV prevention, care and treatment.
