APIN Visits Senior Special Assistant to the President on Public Health to Strengthen Federal Engagement In Advancing Nutrition and Public Health Outcomes

What does it take to build a health system capable of delivering quality healthcare and improved nutrition outcomes across every state and Local Government Area (LGA) in Nigeria? For APIN Public Health Initiatives, the answer lies in strong government leadership, aligned partnerships, and the strategic use of data to drive measurable progress.

Reinforcing collaboration with government at all levels remains central to APIN’s approach. In line with this commitment, Dr. Ifeyinwa Onwuatuelo, Coordinating Director of Programs, led a high-level engagement with Uju Rochas-Anwukah, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Public Health and Focal Person on Nutrition to the Vice President.

Discussions focused on improving nutrition outcomes, accelerating high-impact interventions for vulnerable populations, and ensuring programme alignment with national priorities. The meeting also explored opportunities for APIN to support government-led resource mobilisation efforts and the development of a robust data system and performance dashboard to provide visibility into state and LGA-level implementation within the national nutrition programme.

Reliable, real-time data strengthens planning, enhances accountability, and supports evidence-based decision-making, all critical components of sustainable health system transformation.

Through coordinated action and shared responsibility, APIN continues to work alongside government partners to advance public health outcomes and build resilient systems that deliver results nationwide.
