It is official!

In partnership with our supported facility, Federal Medical Centre (FMC) Makurdi, Benue State, we had the distinct pleasure of hosting His Excellency, Reverend Father Hyacinth Iormem Alia, the Executive Governor of Benue State and Suzanne Theroux, the Acting Country Director, U.S. CDC Nigeria, as special guests of honour at the Official Commissioning of FMC Makurdi’s state-of-the-Art Molecular PCR Mega laboratory.

With funding from the U.S CDC, APIN supported the upgrade of the laboratory through the provision of equipment, infrastructure, capacity building and technical assistance, culminating in the lab receiving a 1-star rating from ASLM/SLIPTA auditors in 2018, and finally in the prestigious ISO 15189:2012 accreditation from the South African National Accreditation System in December 2022.

The Benue State Governor and the CDC Nigeria Acting Country Director jointly presented the certificate of accreditation to the Chief Medical Director of FMC Makurdi.

This accreditation puts the FMC Makurdi PCR Lab at par with international laboratories with the same accreditation all over the world! Well done to the FMC Makurdi Team!
