Bringing Diagnostics To The Doorstep: How APIN And Partners Are Advancing TB Screening With The AI-Enabled Delft Light X-ray Machine!

Imagine this:

A patient walks into a health facility with a lingering cough and weight loss. Within minutes, they’re screened for TB—no delays, no referrals.

But what happens when there’s no power at the facility? Or when patients live too far away—or are too sick to travel? Without timely detection, TB—a preventable, curable disease—can continue to spread.

Now imagine if that same health facility had a lightweight, solar-powered, AI-enabled X-ray machine—small enough to fit in a backpack. Health workers could take it on outreach to hard-to-reach communities, set it up in minutes, and screen people right there in the field.

Thanks to support from U.S. CDC Nigeria and APIN, 17 health facilities across Nigeria now have the Delft Light X-ray machine—boosting early and accurate detection so we can stop TB from spreading further.

To ensure maximum impact, APIN partnered with Institute of Human Virology, Nigeria and the Delft team to train facility clinicians, radiographers, and M&E staff on effective use of the equipment—supporting a comprehensive approach to TB care and diagnosis.

When it comes to ending TB and improving health, APIN is committed to proffering solutions that ensure wider reach, better results, and lasting impact.
