Milestone: APIN Supports Inauguration of First Ever National Infection Prevention and Control Technical Working Group (IPC TWG)

Earlier today, we had the opportunity to be part of a significant milestone in Nigeria’s public health journey.

With support from APIN and funding from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (U.S. CDC Nigeria), the Director General of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), Dr Jide Idris, officially inaugurated the National Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) Technical Working Group, a multi-agency group which will be responsible for providing country-wide coordination for infection prevention and control activities.

The IPC TWG will lead planning, capacity building and monitoring efforts to ensure that health facilities are able to combat healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) and antimicrobial resistance, ultimately leading to increased capacity to prevent and respond to outbreaks.
