Oyo State government with support from APIN Public Health Initiatives and the U.S Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) launched the Accelerating Progress in Pediatrics and PMTCT (AP3) Surge.

Oyo State has made huge strides in finding and putting People Living with HIV on treatment. In fact, since the ART surge launch last year, the state has doubled its treatment coverage to 77%.

To ensure that we meet the UNAIDS 95-95-95 goals by 2030, the Oyo State government with support from APIN Public Health Initiatives and the U.S Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) launched the Accelerating Progress in Pediatrics and PMTCT (AP3) Surge, which is targeted at finding, testing and enrolling children and pregnant women living with HIV into lifesaving Antiretroviral Therapy (ART).

This group has been found to have an unmet need for HIV testing & treatment services and reaching them will go a long way to ensure that there are no new HIV infections in the state.

The event was attended by the U.S Consul General, Mr Will Stevens, the Oyo State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Olabode Ladipo, the Permanent Secretary, Oyo State Ministry of Health, Dr. Olusoji Adeyanju as well as other key stakeholders from traditional & religious institutions and HIV/AIDS networks.
