Dr Kelechi Ngwoke joined APIN Public Health Initiatives in February, 2012. He is the Associate Director in charge of the Community Services Department.
He leads APIN’s community health programmes, providing strategic direction for integrated community-facility linkages, community-based health services for children and adolescents, and nutritional interventions for children living with HIV. He also manages performance-based partnerships with community-based organisations (CBOs) and provides strategic oversight of sexual violence prevention initiatives through the No Means No programme.
He received his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka in 2006. He went on to earn a Master of Public Health from the University of Roehampton, London in 2017, followed by a Postgraduate Certificate in International Management (Health Systems) from the University of Liverpool in 2018. He is currently completing an Executive Master of Business Administration at Lagos Business School, Pan-Atlantic University, with graduation expected in 2026, and has undertaken further executive training in nonprofit management, healthcare business scaling, and social enterprise management at the same institution.
Dr Ngwoke has over 18 years of experience across clinical practice, community health programming, health systems strengthening and quality of care. Since joining APIN in 2012 as a Program Officer, he has risen through roles of increasing responsibility to his current position. Before joining APIN, he worked as a Medical Officer with the Catholic Health Commission, Yola Diocese; the Integrated Health Programme of the Catholic Diocese of Makurdi; and the Comprehensive Health Centre, Bassambiri, in Nembe, Bayelsa State, having begun his career as a House Officer at the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital, Ituku-Ozalla, Enugu.
In 2020, he was inducted as a Fellow of the Institute of Quality (FISQua) of the International Society for Quality in Health Care. He is also a member of several professional bodies, including the Society for Quality in Healthcare in Nigeria (SQHN), the Nigeria Medical Association (NMA), the Association of Public Health Physicians of Nigeria (APHPN), and the No Means No Global Network Advisory Group.
Outside APIN, Dr Ngwoke volunteers for community development services and facilitates youth empowerment, leadership and mentorship programmes.
