As part of our efforts to strengthen vulnerable households and support caregivers of children and adolescents affected by or infected with HIV, we partnered with communities in Tarka LGA, Benue State to establish communal farms as a means of income generation for these households. In partnership with Association for Grassroot Counsellors on Health and Development (AGCOD), a local Community Based Organization (CBO), we engaged community leaders to provide communal farmlands which could be cultivated for this purpose.

As part of our efforts to eliminate Mother–to–Child Transmission of HIV in Benue State, APIN collaborated with Faith Based Organizations (FBO) on the Congregational Approach to Optimize PMTCT Services (CAPS) initiative also known as the Baby Shower Project. The partnership with the FBOs aims to close the current gap in the utilization of Antenatal Care (ANC) & Prevention of Mother to Child Transmission of HIV (PMTCT) services by reaching pregnant women and their partners with basic health information on the benefits of antenatal care services, HIV Testing and other health interventions.

The Honourable Minister of State for Health, Dr. Adeleke Olorunnimbe Mamora, representing the Honourable Minister of Health, and the U.S. Ambassador to Nigeria, Ambassador Mary Beth Leonard officially launched the National Clinical Mentorship Programme in Nigeria. The programme domiciled in the National AIDS, STIs and Viral Hepatitis Control Programme (NASCP) aims to provide hands-on mentoring and training for frontline health workers to enable them deliver high-quality HIV services to People Living with HIV (PLHIV).

In an effort to increase their access to HIV testing and antiretroviral treatment, our Plateau State office collaborated with the Plateau State Ministry of Health to host a funfair / event-based Community testing program for 300 young people. The event featured games, awareness talks on sexual and reproductive health topics, HIV testing for consenting adolescents and linkage to care for those found positive.
